Manufacturing International · Contributor Quick Guide

Your expertise starts the conversation.
Give it a next step.

Help manufacturers Learn about a challenge, Try a possible solution, and Buy the right offering. Your article is where that journey begins.

LEARN · Build understandingTRY · Build confidenceBUY · Move forward

01 / Start with the reader

One challenge. Three connected steps.

Before you write, choose the problem you can help solve and the question your article will answer. Where useful, connect that insight to a Try experience and a relevant Buy offering. Readers should leave better informed whether or not they take another step.

STEP 01 / THE ARTICLE

Learn

Make your expertise useful.

Answer the article’s main question with insight readers can use—even if they never purchase anything.

  • Explain a specific problem and why it matters.
  • Share firsthand lessons and practical examples.
  • Offer steps, questions, or options to evaluate.
  • Explain fit, tradeoffs, and limitations.

Reader takeaway:
“I understand the problem and what to consider.”

STEP 02 / THE EXPERIENCE

Try

Make the next step manageable.

Help readers explore whether your approach could work for their business.

  • Checklist, worksheet, or sample template
  • Self-assessment or readiness review
  • Demo or introductory consultation
  • Workshop, diagnostic, trial, or small pilot

Reader takeaway:
“I can see how this might work for us.”

STEP 03 / THE SOLUTION

Buy

Make the offer clear.

Give interested readers a defined product or service they can choose.

  • Complete template or resource package
  • Consulting or coaching time
  • Training, software, or a product
  • Assessment, implementation, or ongoing service

Reader takeaway:
“I know what I’m getting and how to move forward.”

Helpful content earns attention. Relevant offerings can give readers a useful next step. Learn, Try, Buy is an optional path—not a requirement to complete all three stages. We welcome valuable expert articles from contributors who have nothing to sell.

02 / Complete the journey

Create the offerings that follow the article.

Put your next steps on the platform.

If you have a relevant resource, product, or service, create a listing on Manufacturing International so interested readers have a clear place to explore, purchase, book, or inquire. Having an offering is not a condition of article acceptance.

A Try offering can be free or paid. It should deliver the advertised value and help the reader decide whether to go further. Describe any price, registration requirement, or sales follow-up before someone starts. A checklist should provide a checklist; an assessment should provide meaningful feedback. Your Buy offering should build naturally on that experience.

When your article references an offering, prepare its listing before submitting whenever possible. If it is still in development, tell the editorial team. An article can also stand alone or link to a useful educational resource.

Use a format supported by the platform and follow the applicable listing requirements and marketplace policies.

03 / See the connection

Build a journey around your expertise.

Keep the article, Try experience, and paid solution focused on the same business challenge.

Write a next step readers can act on.

When a next step helps the reader, choose one primary call to action—often a Try offering or useful resource. Place it after a relevant section or at the end, without repeatedly interrupting the article. Readers who are ready may also appreciate a link to the full solution. Do not withhold the answer promised by the article to force a download, inquiry, or purchase.

“Want to see where your plant stands? Start with the KPI review worksheet to identify gaps and prioritize your next steps.”

04 / Write with purpose

Useful content comes first.

Write for owners, executives, operational leaders, technical specialists, and consultants working in or serving small and mid-sized manufacturers. Demonstrate your expertise through original examples, evidence, and practical guidance. Explain any related offer on its listing page. Our editorial team evaluates articles for reader value, accuracy, relevance, and originality—not whether the contributor has a product to sell.

Article structure, length & topics
  • Length: Use the length needed to answer the question well. Around 1,100 words can be a useful planning guide for an in-depth article, but it is not a minimum or an SEO requirement. Shorter, focused contributions are welcome. Avoid padding; Google has no preferred word count.
  • Tone: English; professional, practical, and accessible. Explain technical terms when needed.
  • Structure: Use a clear title, short introduction, H2/H3 headings, brief paragraphs, and useful bullets or numbered steps.
  • Substance: Lead with a specific problem. Share experience, actionable guidance, and the limitations of your approach.
  • Topics: AI, automation, operations, supply chain, workforce, finance, technology, marketing and sales, global trade, and manufacturing markets.
Originality, sources, images & AI
  • Originality: Submit work you created or are authorized to provide. Disclose previous publication and include the original link.
  • Sources: Normally include at least two credible sources. Link statistics, quotations, research findings, and factual claims to supporting sources, and add a short source list at the end.
  • Images: Optional. Provide only images, charts, and graphics cleared for publication and promotion, with required credits and permission details.
  • AI assistance: AI may support outlining or editing, but the article must reflect your expertise. Verify all facts and references, and disclose substantial AI-generated text or images.
  • Confidentiality: Obtain permission before sharing client, employer, or other confidential information. Identify hypothetical examples.
Links, promotion & commercial disclosures

You may suggest up to two relevant external links to your website or resources, in addition to source citations. Also identify the Manufacturing International listings you would like connected to the article.

Disclose ownership, employment, sponsorship, payment, or other commercial relationships connected to your recommendations. Contributor affiliate links require prior approval.

Relevant links to our own articles, tools, profiles, and marketplace listings are welcome when they help readers. A link does not become a paid placement simply because its destination offers something for sale.

Tell the editorial team if money, commissions, goods, or services are connected to a link or placement. Advertising, paid-placement, and approved affiliate links must be clearly disclosed and appropriately qualified; our editorial team uses rel="sponsored" for these links. Ordinary editorial links are evaluated separately. Do not offer or request payment for links intended to influence search rankings.

All links, calls to action, and placements are subject to editorial review. Publication, promotional exposure, do-follow links, search rankings, leads, and sales are not guaranteed.

Your profile & the review process

Keep your profile current with your name, professional title, company if applicable, photo, short bio of up to 400 characters, full bio, relevant social links, and website.

Submit through Expert Dashboard → New Article. Our target review time is 2–5 business days, depending on volume and revisions.

We review contributions for relevance, originality, accuracy, and appropriate disclosures. Published articles identify their authors and connect to relevant manufacturing topics. We may edit for clarity, accuracy, formatting, and search presentation, or request revisions. We will seek your approval before substantive edits that materially change your meaning or conclusions. Submission does not guarantee publication.

Contributor benefits, podcasts & compensation

Contributors may receive author credit, profile and offering connections, and opportunities for exposure through relevant site pages, newsletters, and social channels.

Eligible contributors may also be considered for badges, panels, collaborative projects, interviews, and possible future podcasts or videos. Opportunities depend on editorial fit, eligibility, and availability.

Contributions are unpaid unless agreed otherwise in writing. Recorded podcast and video participation requires a separate release.

05 / Ready for review

Before you submit, connect the dots.

  • My article answers its main question and delivers useful guidance without requiring a purchase.
  • If I include a Try offering, it delivers the promised value and clearly explains any cost or registration.
  • If I include a Buy offering, it is relevant, accurately described, and optional for the reader.
  • Any listings I reference are ready, or I have explained what is in development. An offering is not required.
  • My profile, photo, bio, and links are current.
  • My sources, permissions, disclosures, and links are complete.
